The Big Band Sunset Festival is a free event held on each Saturday afternoon and evening in February in the Hazel Pierce Reserve adjacent to the beautiful Mordialloc Creek (cnr Beach Rd and Nepean Hwy). Entertainment commences at 4.00pm and continues right through until the evening swing dance by MoJO which concludes at 9pm.
Every Saturday has a different theme and guest artists abound throughout the festival.
As in previous years, all guest acts in 2018 will be big bands, making this Australia's premiere Big Band Jazz festival!
The sounds of swing will be echoing across the park and water from early in the afternoon right though to the end of the swing dance at 9pm. As always, the huge Big Band Sunsets dance floor will be there awaiting all eager dancers. You'll also see and hear some of our finest young talent and local performers in the schools segment of the festival.
So bring your rug and picnic hamper and come on down to the river for a fabulous afternoon & evening of jazz and dancing.
Choose your spot in the park and settle back for over 20 hours of high quality jazz music across the festival...jazz music with an emphasis on MoJO's favourite: big band swing!
In the immortal words of Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn, "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing..."; and boy there'll be plenty of swing in Mordialloc come February!
Thanks to the support of the arts by the City of Kingston , the sponsorship of the Parkdale/Mentone East Community Bank Branch of the Bendigo Bank and the hard work of the members of MoJO IT'S ALL COMPLETELY FREE!!!
